In 1937 my step-dad, Milton Nitzsche, purchased a farm for his family. The family home is now farmhouse 6. Milton worked in Houston while his famiy lived on the farm raising cattle and crops. I loved the Nitzsche's, especially my step-dad Milton. It was always my dream to own what is now farmhouse 6. When I had the opportunity I purchased it from the estate, moved to present location and think of my step-dad and his family each time I enter the door. It is lovely when dreams come true.
It was a labor of love to update farmhouse 6 to what it is presently. The footprint of the house is the same but is more liveable for todays lifestyle. You can still appreciate the original ceiling beams, wood floors throughout and the walls in the living area. Porches were added to take advantage of the surrounding views. I hope you enjoy farmhouse 6.
What is now the kitchen was once the bachelor (or male visitor) room. While under the same roof, it was isolated from rest of the house by only being able to access it from a door on the porch. I understand from the 'old timers' around here that visitors were welcome but 'precautions had to be taken to protect the young women of the farms.'
